Kate, in a stunning emerald green Dolce and Gabbana dress, was photographed putting her arm around her sister-in-law, days after the Duchess of Sussex faced a torrent of criticism for banning snaps of her being taken at the tennis event and also for the way she held her son, Archie. Meghan appeared comforted by the adorable gesture as she sat flanked between the two Middleton sisters. Meghan’s previous visit caused controversy after her royal protection officers told spectators not to take pictures of her while watching pal Serena Williams on Court One.
This was because she was there “in a private capacity”.
Hasan Hasanov was told off by one of the protection officers for appearing to take a picture of Meghan.
However, he was actually taking a picture of himself and didn’t seem to realise she was even there.
The 58-year-old told the Sun: “I had no idea she was there!
“I honestly couldn’t really care less about taking a picture of Meghan, Harry or any of the royals – and, if I did, I’d ask first.”
Their appearance comes days after Meghan, 37, was at a polo event with husband Prince Harry, their newborn Archie, and Kate, also 37, with the three children she shares with Prince William, George, five, Charlotte, four, and Louis, one.
Meghan awkwardly clutched her child, who was pictured without socks or a hat on in the summer sunshine.
Serena defended Meghan earlier in the week after she was asked about the negative press the duchess receives.
But the tennis ace said she never reads anything about Meghan in the news.
She said: “I didn’t know there was negative media out there. Any time I see her name attached to anything, I don’t read it.
“She couldn’t be a better friend to me.”
She added: “Low moments, high moments, she’s always there, and that’s all I want to be to her.”
