Oxford has not featured once since the Chilean took charge last summer.

Indeed, the versatile defender last turned out for the Hammers in October 2016.

But it seems the Londoners have no intention of letting Oxford leave for the time being.

It’s said that the youngster now intends to see out the remainder of his contract at West Ham, which expires in 2021.

A source explained to Sky: “It’s because of the politics surrounding the player and the way he has been portrayed.”

Meanwhile, West Ham are in the market for a new striker before Thursday night’s transfer deadline.

Star man Marko Arnautovic picked up a foot injury in last night’s defeat to Wolves and has since been wearing a protective case ahead of scans.

But it appears a move for Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez is at an end, with the Spaniards reluctant to sell – even for £40million.
