CHELSEA mocked up a hilarious trailer for a new documentary: Rob Green, Baku Hero.
The veteran goalkeeper, 39, shocked everyone by lifting the Europa League trophy in Azerbaijan on Wednesday night.
Green – who did not play a competitive game in his year at Chelsea – announced his retirement this morning after a 670-game, 20-year career across six clubs which also saw him play for England 12 times.
But he was determined to go out with a bang and has done exactly that with this brilliant mockumentary.
The ‘keeper poked fun at his team-mates including Willian as he claimed his rightful bragging rights for Wednesday’s 4-1 victory over Arsenal.
With typically-dramatic background music and cutting to various scenes from Baku, Green provided an inspirational voiceover and pieces to camera.
He said: “Arsenal had the open-top bus, they didn’t have a clue what we were planning. Not. A. Clue.
“They [Chelsea] needed more than a leader on the pitch, they needed a leader that wasn’t actually playing.
“This is my chance to give something back.
I’ll never forget the look on Willian’s face. He just looked at me and said, ‘What are you doing here?’
“The emotion was real. Look at David Luiz.
“I’ll never forget the look on Willian’s face. He just looked at me and said, ‘What are you doing here?’
“It’s a classic, never-give-up photo.
“This has the potential to change player celebrations forever.”
And then Green added a touch of final banter, closing the video with: “Are we done? I’ve just got to get a flight to Madrid!”
The video, shared by Chelsea this evening, also featured a number of tweets from viewers on Wednesday relating to Green lifting the trophy.
One, @mrfixitstips said: “I like to think that Rob Green is lifting the trophy on behalf of every single one of us who haven’t played a minute in this year’s Europa League. Thanks Rob.”
