EPSOM took centre stage on Friday with a magnificent Oaks card.
We’ve been keeping a close eye on the action here at Sun Racing HQ and picked out some snippets you may have missed.
Day to forget for Moore
Ryan Moore had an afternoon to forget in the saddle. The 35-year-old made a rapid move to lead from off the pace aboard Kew Gardens in the Coronation Cup only to get cuffed by Defoe late on (having hit 1.01 in running).
He didn’t learn his lesson and made the same sweeping move in the Oaks aboard the well-fancied Pink Dogwood from right out the back.
She looked all over the winner but she got there too soon and was just edged out of it late on by Anapurna. He should have delayed his challenge in each race. Poor from a jockey of his calibre.

2.00 Epsom – Misty Grey
Mark Johnston’s youngster ran a huge race in the Woodcote Stakes over 6f.
He was electric out of the gates and soon had the field on the stretch, showing rapid speed to ease seven to eight lengths clear.
But his early exertions cost him close home as he tied up and lost two places. Keep an eye out for him in the Windsor Castle Stakes over 5f at Royal Ascot.

3.45 Epsom – Mountain Angel
Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni had a memorable afternoon on the Downs.
And the pair teamed up to win the big 1m2f handicap with the progressive Mountain Angel, who travelled strongly and quickened clear to win nicely.
He must have a big chance in something like the Listed Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot.
