The Brexit process appears to have hit a standstill and following a series of delays, the UK is set to leave the European Union on October 31 with or without a deal. However, Remain campaigner Femi Oluwole has claimed he is considered a threat to Brexit, sparking backlash on Twitter as users mocked his assertion. After arguing on TalkRadio that he would continue to campaign for Remain despite the perceived threats to his safety, listeners were quick to comment their disagreement at his claims.
He began by saying: “Do I know that I am in physical danger out there in terms of my safety, then yes I am aware of it.
“Is it something that I think about all the time, not particularly.
“I’ve done the maths in my head and given what happened to Jo Cox in 2016, given the fact that I am now seen as a significant threat to Brexit.
“Given those that did what they did to Jo Cox find me particularly offensive because of the colour of my skin, there is a significant physical threat towards me.
“However, the British medical association that is the highest medical authority in the UK, a no deal Brexit would be a catastrophe for the NHS.
The TalkRadio host then joked that these experts didn’t know anything and the pair began to laugh.
Listeners took to Twitter to mock the Remainer campaigner for his statement considering himself to be a “significant” threat to Brexit.
Social Media user BlueRun E commented: “Mate the only threat you are to is your own vanity.
Another commented on Twitter: “This guy isn’t a threat to anyone but himself, my next door neighbours goldfish is more of a threat to Brexit than him.”
Twitter user Andrew Finch was more critical and said: “Oh behave Femi, It’s downhill all the way when you start to hold an over-inflated opinion of yourself.
“With regards to a certain issue, I’d say many who are not regular social media users wouldn’t have a clue who you were or what your role in the Brexit debate is.
Another agreed and wrote: “Such a pathological self-belief really is worrying for someone who clearly has the firepower of a potted plant”
Other commenters took to posting images and GIFS of pop culture icon’s confused or laughing in relation to the Remainers comments.
