Additional changes are expected in the future, with the eligible age for men and women to receive the State Pension set to increase to 67 between 2026 and 2028.

And under the Pensions Act 2007, the age will increase from 67 to 68 between 2044 and 2046, with the timetable based on the current law.

The government has developed a tool that enables Britons to get a better understanding of their entitlement.

By heading to the official website, people can enter their gender and date of birth, with the tool providing insight into when they are currently scheduled to receive the State Pension sum, and indeed how much they could receive.
